To the router and the laptops are wireless. I have 2 windows xp laptops and they were networked (with a router)with a desktop computer which was also Windows XP (32 bit). The desktop is connected I am having a similar problem and have tried all of these suggested solutions. Need this printer hooked up to Computer B. But I can't hook up the printer to Computer B and access it from Computer A. Don't even have to use the Add Printer Wizard.

Never had problems getting this to work with XP.Įdit #2: Ok I found that if I have the printer hooked up to Computer A, I can access it and print from Computer B with no problems. I don't like not being able to do what I want to do to my computer. And I can't delete the port and try to recreate it. Then tried to plug it back into the other computer and change the port on the computer I want to print from, but it won't print at all now.Įdit: I've been messing with it trying different things and now I can't even get my computer to print at all, even 4圆. I tried installing directly to my computer and it worked. So I tried a different driver and it worked, but it only prints 4圆. HP Photosmart C4795 still not showing up.

So I did the local install \\computer name\printer name method and it worked only when I hit the windows update it actually came out with LESS drivers than before. Same editions (Windows 7 Pro) on all three PC's! I thought the Homegroups were supposed to vastly simplify things. It's really preplexing that a 32-bit PC would work with the 64-bit PC, but another 64-bit PC wouldn't work with the other 64-bit PC. The only way I could get the printer to work was to set it up as a local printer with the porting method graciously submitted by Arthur Xie. However, when I tried to install the HP printers on the second 64-bit PC using the "Add a network, wireless, of Bluetooth printer" option, it saw the printer on the other 64-bit PC, but when it tried to install it I got an error messge saying the driver was missing. The 32-bit computer installed the HP printer fine, and is working great I can wirelessly print documents from the 32-bit PC to the 64-bit PC the HP printer is physically connected to. I set up a wireless Homegroup with all 3 computers. I have an HP Photosmart 3210 physically connected to one of the 64-bit PC's.

I have three PC's, two with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and one with Windows 7 32-bit. I had a similar problem, but from what I saw even weirder.
